Telford to issue letters to residents requiring tree trimming
At the Aug. 6 meeting, Telford Borough council was informed of 200 properties that are in violation of the borough’s tree trimming ordinance. Among the violations found by Public Works Director Donald Beck were trees hanging over the sidewalk, forcing people using sidewalks out onto the roadway to avoid the obstruction. Telford council approved a letter that will be sent to property owners in violation. The letter will give first notice of the violation and includes a copy of the borough’s ordinance. A second notice will be followed by a citation. The ordinance allows the borough to perform the necessary tree trimming and charge the owner the cost of the work plus 10 percent, with a fine added for each day the amount is unpaid.
